Computer Interface for Disabled to Compose Piano Music via Eye Movements

The vehicle number plate recognition system (VNPRS) is an essential component of the Sri Lankan Traffic System. The main aim of this project is to design an efficient automated authorized vehicle identification system by using the vehicle number plate. The system uses the character recognition of the vehicle license plate based on template matching and is mainly applicable to Sri Lankan vehicle number plates. The proposed system uses a regular PC with a video camera, and captures the image of vehicle number plate. Once the camera captures a number plate, it will be processed for the character conversation by optical character recognition (OCR) mechanism. Then characters are checked against a centralized database, which stores detailed information of Sri Lankan vehicles. As a result, the system displays its status, of which the information is being updated by relevant departments instantly. The system pops up a screen to notify the Police Department that the vehicle in inspection has committed an offense or other related alerting notifications. Introduction of vehicle detection for automation of vehicle identification in Sri Lanka involves an unaffordable investment cost to purchase foreign technology and equipment which do not cater to Sri Lankan traffic needs, unless some locally developed cost-effective system is introduced, such as VNPRS.
