Pilot’s Intelligent Knee-pad

Private pilot in a single engine aircraft has to fly, navigate and communicate with air traffic control all at the same time. These actions have to be performed without involvement of copilot an autopilot. The purpose of this project is to design a special purpose computer that can remove some of the load from the pilot. This computer will store the information supplied by ATC and perform aviation related calculations. This computer will contain the information about other air pilots and pilot will also get rapid information from control room such as approach frequency and the length of its runway. The designed computer is the special purpose notebook computer and this computer will be stimulated on PC. An important part of this project is ergonomic and HCI considerations. A successful system should anticipate the pilot’s needs such as by making periodic suggestions.
