We know that the demand of electric power is increasing day
by day, protection of power system against failure remains a major challenge,
especially against cascading failures which results blackout.
By
addition of such geographically dispersing power system as a single element,
huge database and computational intensive processing becomes necessary. For
large amount of data and heavy computational work in the computer science and
grid computing technology offers an alternative solution. The corresponding
research about integrating power plant control system into grid computing
technology is started in recent years. Along with the advancement of modern technologies
and techniques in many fields in general and power system applications
especially, more complexity and difficulty are appeared which make these
applications incompatible or inefficient with recent computational technologies.
The purpose of our research is mainly focusing on why we do need Grid Computing
technology and its benefits to the power systems
