Modeling and Design of a Clavicle Bone-Plate for Zimmer



One of the most common injuries to the human skeleton are mid-clavicular fractures. This project aims to create a clavicle bone-plate for Zimmer’s Trauma Division. Designs were acceptable based on biomechanical modeling of stresses performed in both the MATLAB and Abaqus environments. The concluding plate design was exposed to balance clavicular stresses due to the biomechanical loading of daily activities, as well structural support for various fracture geometries in the clavicle.
